Little Mammoth Media worked with Delta Air Lines to create new version of beloved children’s ‘edutainment’ program, ‘The New BIG Plane Trip’

Atlanta’s Little Mammoth Media, which makes fun, adventure-filled films for kids, is kicking off its 25th anniversary with a remake of its first-ever movie, “The BIG Plane Trip.” The reimagined film, “The New BIG Plane Trip,” shares a behind-the-scenes look at a Delta Air Lines flight from Atlanta’s Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport to its final destination in London’s Heathrow Airport.

Pint-sized viewers will get to look “behind the ticket” at what goes into making airports and airlines function, with an inside look at flight-attendant training, how Delta’s chef develops the in-flight meals and how luggage moves through the airport.

Founder Bill VanDerKloot launched Little Mammoth Media in 1993 to entertain kids while answering their questions about how things work - from plane trips to submarines to national parks - through the “Big Adventure” series.

“25 years ago, when my kids were little, I realized there weren’t any well-produced and well-researched videos for children. I decided to make them myself, and Little Mammoth Media was born,” said VanDerKloot. “Through our ‘Big Adventure’ series, we create smart content to delight curious kids -- just like mine.”

Over the last 25 years, Little Mammoth Media has sold tens of thousands of videos to entertain children in more than thirty different countries around the world. The brand has received several awards, including: Award of Excellence in Accolade Global Film Competition, Kids First! Endorsement from The Coalition for Quality Children’s Media, Finalist for A REMI Award at the Houston International Film Festival, Bronze Award at the NYC Cynopsis Short Form Video Festival and an Award of Excellence at the Best Shorts Competition.

When asked about his greatest successes, VanDerKloot mentions the feedback he’s received from viewers over the years.

“The highlight of my career has been hearing from viewers who were inspired by our films to pursue careers. One viewer told me ‘The BIG Plane Trip’ motivated him to become a pilot, and another told me he joined the U.S. Coast Guard after loving ‘The BIG Submarine’ as a child,” said VanDerKloot. “That kind of feedback sticks with you.”

In addition to the new movie, Little Mammoth Media is also debuting a short film, “What We Love About London.” This free kid-friendly guide explores London’s history, monuments and attractions. To download, visit: http://littlemammoth.com/promo/.
