2017 Brookwood Hills Tour of Homes on April 22 to Benefit Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta

2/23/17

Atlantans are invited to experience the elegance of one of the city’s most historic neighborhoods during Brookwood Hills Friends Group’s 2017 Brookwood Hills Tour of Homes on Saturday, April 22 from 10 a.m. –4 p.m. Featuring four of the neighborhood’s most architecturally significant homes designed by renowned Atlanta architects Stan Dixon, Keith Summerour and Norman Askins, the biennial charity event will benefit Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta.

“For over 20 years, the Brookwood Hills Friends Group has supported Children’s by helping to raise funds and awareness for its patients,” said Robin Fisher, chair, Brookwood Hills Friends group. “The Brookwood Hills Tour of Homes allows us to achieve this in a very personal way; by opening the doors to residents’ private lives and inviting people from across the city to experience a piece of Atlanta’s rich history.”

This year’s tour invites guests to explore four of the neighborhood’s homes highlighting distinctly different architectural styles, character and size that make up the 95-year-old urban oasis residing along Atlanta’s iconic Peachtree Street. Each home presents unique aesthetics – from interior décor to landscape design – and offers guests a glimpse into modern living amidst historical preservation. Additionally, knowledgeable docents will on hand to share information regarding the architects, builders and designers involved in the four homes featured on this year’s tour.

Tickets for the 2017 Brookwood Hills Tour of Homes are $35 in advance and $40 at the door with all proceeds benefiting Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta. Tickets can be purchased online at giving.choa.org/brookwoodhillstour  For more information on the event, contact Robin Fisher at robinofisher@icloud.com or Amanda Baxter at aczabor@gmail.com.

ABOUT BROOKWOOD HILLS

Brookwood Hills is one of Atlanta’s oldest, most upscale neighborhoods and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The community is located off Atlanta’s iconic Peachtree Street within Buckhead’s southern border and consists of fewer than 400 homes. Most of the single-family residences in the area exhibit charming, old-world styles that resemble Georgian and Tudor estates. Despite the community’s proximity to Peachtree, residents covet the quiet, private atmosphere. There is little traffic and plenty of sidewalks, so it’s the perfect place for an afternoon stroll. Residents of Brookwood Hills spend a great deal of time at the private Brookwood Hills Community Club. The club features six acres of tennis courts, swimming pools, basketball goals and picnic pavilions. Notable residents include actor Ed Helms and Kathryn Stockett, author of “The Help.”
