High school and college programmers of all skill levels invited to participate in all-night code-a-thon at LexisNexis Risk Solutions

Atlanta-area high school and college students could be hanging out with friends or catching up on their rest; instead on Saturday, May 20, they will spend all night – 1,440 minutes –participating in a 24-hour code-a-thon in hopes of developing the next trending mobile app, video game or web application.

CodeDay Atlanta, sponsored by Alpharetta-based LexisNexis® Risk Solutions, is a 24-hour event in which students of all skill levels come together to code, compete and meet other programmers in metro Atlanta.

At the beginning of CodeDay on Saturday at 12 noon, everyone with an idea pitches it to the group. Students choose ideas they consider the most fun, and form teams to work for 24-hours to bring the concepts to life. In addition to hosting workshops and mentoring students, CodeDay staff host fun activities throughout the night. Sunday morning at 11:00 a.m., all students show their final project. Judges from area technology companies will select the winning projects.

CodeDay is a nationwide event, hosted in 25 cities simultaneously, run by StudentRND. It is designed to spark an interest in computer science by showing high school and college students how creative and empowering coding can be.

CodeDay Atlanta will be hosted at LexisNexis Risk Solutions headquarters in Alpharetta. This is the fourth consecutive year the company has sponsored the event as part of its ongoing commitment to fostering innovation as a leading technology employer in Atlanta.
