GreyStone Power Corporation, a locally owned and operated electric cooperative servicing the metro Atlanta area, today celebrated the grand opening of its new headquarters in Hiram, Georgia with a ribbon cutting ceremony yesterday.

For more than 50 years, GreyStone occupied a 16-acre site in Douglasville, but their steady success and preemptive growth solidified the need for a new, larger space. With the help of JLL Atlanta’s Project and Development Services (PDS) and Brokerage teams, GreyStone acquired a 193-acre site in Paulding County more than a decade ago. The site is located approximately 30 miles from Atlanta’s city center.

JLL served as the project manager from design through occupancy, ensuring the new campus would be a development centered around serving GreyStone’s customers and employees. GreyStone worked with JLL to not only create an efficient office space, but provide a place to grow, and eventually meet the corporate needs of 2030.

“Throughout this process, we recognized the importance of centering this project around GreyStone’s culture,” said JLL PDS Vice President Mark Elliott. “Ultimately, we wanted to help GreyStone make it a collaborative campus for their employees to learn, grow and perform their jobs the best they can in order to serve their community.”

Comprised of four buildings spread out over 63 of the developed acres, the campus consists of a product warehouse, vehicle maintenance building, operations and engineering building, and a three-story administration building. An area of focus for GreyStone was to construct a weatherproof structure for their Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition control system. Housed in the new operations and engineering building, the system is the brains of Greystone’s outreach and required an impenetrable building to withstand elements in order to continuously serve their customers.

With the help of JLL’s PDS team, the project remained on schedule and under budget, despite recent challenges created by COVID-19. Construction of the campus was completed in December 2020 and GreyStone employees began occupying the new space in February 2021.
