Colony Square Spreads Holiday Magic Through Midtown with Festive Experiences

11/12/20

The newly reimagined Colony Square will be activated with holiday happenings all season long

It’s the most wonderful time of the year and Colony Square, the iconic mixed-use destination undergoing redevelopment in Midtown Atlanta, will ring in the holiday season with several socially distanced and joyous experiences. Beginning Nov. 13 through the new year, Midtown’s Living Room will be activated with jolly good fun and holiday decor galore, including a North Pole-inspired igloo getaway, weekly holiday concerts and movies, a colossal Santa Chair perfect for photo ops, and a magical display of twinkling lights, garland and wreaths.

“After the challenges and social isolation brought on by the pandemic, the merriment and magic of the holidays has never been needed more,” said Sara Carville, marketing manager at Colony Square. “As a place designed to bring people together, we are infusing Colony Square with open-air experiences and holiday cheer for the community. Midtown’s Living Room will provide the perfect spot to come together and celebrate, whether you're sitting by the cozy fire in a decked-out holiday igloo or atop a massive red seat with lit-up antlers.”

In addition to all of the holiday experiences at Colony Square, guests can enjoy the newly “winterized” open-air Plaza, featuring socially distanced winter squares, perfect for lounging and gathering. Details about each of the seasonal events at Colony Square are outlined below.

  • Fireside SoundsOn The Square – Kick off your weekends throughout the holiday season with live musical entertainment every Friday night in the Plaza. Beginning Nov. 13 through Dec. 18 from 6 to 8 p.m., Midtowners can relax and unwind with delectable s’mores, cozy fire pits and tunes from local Atlanta favorites. Tickets are $40 per personal winter square for up to four people – all shows quickly sold out except for the Dec. 18 performance.
  • Holiday Movies On The Square – Get in the ho-ho-holiday spirit each Wednesday in December with fan-favorite holiday classics. From 7 to 9 p.m. on Dec. 2 through the 23rd, moviegoers are invited to cozy up in a socially distanced square around a central firepit while enjoying popcorn and a seasonal film on the massive LED screen in The Plaza. Tickets are $20 per personal winter square for up to four people.
  • The North Pole – This holiday season, The Grove Terrace located atop Establishment will transform into a whimsical winter wonderland, set within a cozy igloo that overlooks The Grove and the magically decorated Midtown Atlanta. Beginning Dec. 9, guests can reserve the private rooftop space for a group outing or holiday party and experience the holiday-decorated cocktail lounge, complete with libations, light bites and more.
  • Santa Chair – The Instagram-worthy Santa Chair will make its return to The Grove for another year of seasonal photo ops. Complete with a massive red seat, lit-up antlers and a surprise slide down the back, the colossal chair sits amongst the festive holiday decor at the mixed-use destination, inviting guests to “slide” into the holiday spirit at Colony Square.

Colony Square has deployed several safety measures to ensure the health and safety of visitors, residents, office workers and employees. Masks are required when walking around property or when not seated at a personal square, and social distancing will be strongly enforced at all holiday events.
