Taylor English Duma LLP is pleased to announce the addition of Thea Parent as a partner in the firm’s Real Estate Department in Philadelphia. Parent possesses in-depth knowledge of the commercial real estate and hospitality industries, assisting clients with financing and development transactions involving hotels, office buildings, mixed use projects, condominiums, and apartment complexes. She has closed billions of dollars in deals in most major U.S. markets.

At Taylor English, she assists clients, including REITs, owners, developers, borrowers and lenders, with related financing transactions ranging from secured loans, revolving credit facilities, securitized loans, mezzanine loans, construction loans, and tax-credit financings. She has led clients, such as Marriott, Hilton, Hyatt, and Intercontinental Hotels, through the negotiation of hotel franchise agreements. Major hotel brands and several independent hotel operators, including Sage Hospitality, Interstate Hotels and Resorts, Crescent Hotels and HHM, rely on her strategic guidance when crafting management agreements.

Additionally, Parent helps her clients in the commercial real estate and hospitality industries reach their business objectives by providing practical legal advice. She has experience structuring and documenting development projects, joint ventures and strategic alliances. Parent has also counseled developers, owners, and operators of hotel and resort properties on franchise agreements, restaurant branding, trademark maintenance, licenses of intellectual property, operator management agreements, concession agreements, restaurant leases and management agreements, and vendor management.

Parent is a member of the Maryland Bar Association and Pennsylvania Bar Association. Outside of the office, she volunteers for the Philadelphia Volunteer Lawyers for the Arts and MindLeaps, a not-for-profit organization dedicated to building a bridge to education and positive livelihoods through dance. She earned her bachelor’s degree from the University of Maryland, Baltimore County and her law degree from Georgetown University Law Center.
