Nine Startups Helping Older Americans To Compete in AARP Innovation Labs Grand Pitch Finale

Cutting-edge health and fintech startups from across the country will pitch their innovations live during the virtual Grand Pitch Finale hosted by AARP Innovation Labs on October 8, 2020.

Now in its third year, the Grand Pitch is an annual program designed to uncover and support emerging innovations that empower people to live how they want as they age. After seven local market competitions held throughout the year, nine finalists will pitch their products and services to an audience of peers, consumers, and industry experts for the chance to win up to $20k.

This year’s finalists represent a diverse group of thinkers and visionaries, focusing primarily on health tech and fintech innovations to help Americans as they age:

  • Gennev (Medina, WA) is an online clinic for women in the second half of life offering telehealth, supplements and health education.
  • LVNGbook (Atlanta, GA) offers customizable cookbooks for chronic conditions and habit change tools to help people eat to manage their health and create lasting lifestyle change.
  • NuEyes Technologies Inc. (Newport Beach, CA) is Veteran-owned technology company utilizing its patented software on Augmented Reality and Virtual Reality smart glasses in the healthcare and aging space.
  • Reclaim Health (Cambridge, MA) is a data-driven healthcare financial advocate, helping people manage health care costs utilizing their own data.
  • Singular Hearing (British Columbia, Canada) uses machine learning to turn a smartphone into a sophisticated hearing assistive device.
  • SmartyPans Inc. (San Mateo, CA) makes sensor-enabled cookware to provide health and wellness focused home cooks with the best cooking experience through innovative hardware, software and services.
  • Trusty.care (Sunnyside, NY) is an AI driven platform that identifies the right insurance, benefits, and cost savings for older adults to ensure no retiree goes through bankruptcy due to out of pocket healthcare costs.
  • Wheel Pad (Wilmington, VT) provides accessible living and working spaces for people with mobility challenges, keeping families together in emergency, temporary, or permanent situations.
  • ZIBRIO (Houston, TX) is dedicated to preventing unnecessary deaths, injuries and costs from falls. ZIBRIO is to transforming the assessment of health, especially in older adults, in routine body exams, functional physical evaluations and home self-monitoring.


The Grand Pitch is just one example of the work AARP Innovation Labs is doing with community partners to identify and celebrate innovation beyond the gates of Silicon Valley and highlight the work of startups creating solutions for the 50+ community.
