She is a leader that the future is waiting for, on so many levels, and I am so honored to not only be her friend, but to have her to join us in service to humanity on our global board,” said John Hope Bryant, Founder, Chairman and CEO, Operation HOPE.

Mr. Otting was sworn in as the 31st Comptroller of the Currency on November 27, 2017. He left office May 29, 2020. The Comptroller of the Currency is the administrator of the federal banking system and chief officer of the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency. Prior to becoming Comptroller, Mr. Otting was an executive in the banking industry. He served as President of CIT Bank and Co-President of CIT Group, President, Chief Executive Officer, and a member of the Board of Directors of OneWest Bank, N.A., and Vice Chairman of U.S. Bancorp. In addition to his roles in banking, Mr. Otting has served as a board member for the California Chamber of Commerce, the Killebrew-Thompson Memorial Foundation, the Associated Oregon Industries, the Oregon Business Council, the Portland Business Alliance, the Minnesota Chamber of Commerce, and Blue Cross Blue Shield of Oregon. “Joseph served this nation honorably and with distinction as the U.S. Comptroller of the Currency, overseeing more than $12 trillion in banking assets. In this role, he was almost singularly focused on advancing and improving, through the power of data and analytics and increased transparency with, the power of the Community Reinvestment Act, which was chartered in 1977 to help ensure fair banking access and reinvestment in underserved communities. This act of valor alone, this single-minded focus on improving the plight of the poor, earns him my respect, along with our 20 years of friendship, makes me proud and thankful to include him on our Global Board of Advisors,” said Mr. Bryant.

“It is with great honor that I join the HOPE Global Board of Advisors. For over 25 years of my professional career, I have watched and supported John and the HOPE Organization take on new challenges and provide creative and measurable solutions in the pursuit of inclusion and financial literacy for low- to moderate-income communities across America. We have an opportunity and a responsibility to make the American dream available to all and look forward to the journey ahead as a member of the Advisory Board,” said Mr. Otting.
