Study: Georgia Ranks Among Top States Where Rich Gen Xers Are Moving

9/23/20

Gen Xers are expected to inherit trillions in wealth passed along from boomers throughout the next 25 years. Local economies can benefit from this cohort - soon to be flush with financial capital - especially if they have been successful in attracting rich Gen Xers recently.

In its second annual study, SmartAsset analyzed the latest IRS data to uncover where rich Gen Xers are moving. More specifically, the study uncovered the states with the highest net migration of people between the ages of 35 and 54 who earn at least six figures.

Among all 50 states and the District of Columbia, Georgia ranks as the 11th most popular state that wealthy Gen Xers were moving to between 2017 and 2018.
