A year since its debut, mixed-use village expands to 30-plus restaurants and retailers

This month, Halcyon marks the one-year anniversary of welcoming the local community to the vibrant, trail-oriented destination in Forsyth County, Ga.

Since launching a rolling opening in September 2019, the developer, RocaPoint Partners, has executed openings for more than 30 national and locally owned restaurants and retailers. With several first-to-market brands and a Market Hall with regional favorites and new concepts from revered chefs, Halcyon’s merchandising mix continues to evolve and draw visitors to the property. Looking ahead to the remainder of the year and early 2021, Halcyon will also welcome several new tenants including artisan marketplace Citizen Supply, barbershop Unique Cuts, facial bar Clean Your Dirty Face, HOBNOB Neighborhood Tavern, bottle shop Rise & Wine, Cattle Shed Wine & Steak Bar, with more announcements to come.

“Despite the challenges of the past year, our vision for Halcyon as a place where celebration happens naturally has been realized as we have welcomed the first residents, experienced the ongoing success of our tenants, completed the connection to the Big Creek Greenway and strengthened our bond with the surrounding community,” said Phil Mays, Principal at RocaPoint. “Any given day of the week, Halcyon is a place where families and neighbors can connect and find joy in all that the development has to offer – and we’re just getting started.”

During the summer, Halcyon differentiated itself as a go-to option for shopping, dining, recreation and entertainment through its outdoor-driven design and connection to the Big Creek Greenway, a 10-plus-mile multipurpose trail. Offering the community an outlet to connect with each other while also encouraging guests to maintain a social distance has translated directly to tenant success, with several businesses reporting record sales months. In July, the development was recognized as one of the “Top 10 Comeback Retail Center Experiences” by Chain Store Agefor its on-site implementation of shade sails, abundance of patio seating and calendar of social distancing-friendly, open-air events such as regular fitness classes and a weekly Halcyon Farmers Market.

Including the variety of wellness-centric events throughout the week, Halcyon has hosted more than 200-plus events during the past year. Through Kids Club and Yappy Hours to Ladies Night Out shopping events, 2019 holiday programming and goat yoga, Halcyon has partnered with local organizations to elevate their cause and raised thousands of dollars for local nonprofits, advancing its goal to serve as a strong community partner for Forsyth County.

“As we continue to focus on creative placemaking and the community’s wellbeing, we’re seeing our dedication and collaborative efforts pay off,” said David Silver, General Manager at Halcyon. “We have experienced a dramatic uptick in the leasing momentum at Halcyon, thanks largely to the ongoing activations at the property, ability for guests to spread out and the incredible support from the Forsyth County community. Entering year two, we’re ready for more tail-wagging dogs, live music on the Village Green, neighbors becoming friends and local businesses joining our Halcyon family.”

Plans for Halcyon’s second phase include approximately 60,000 square feet of additional retail space, a 160-room hotel and 230,000 square feet of office space.
