Holt Jr, M.D., a family physician and healthcare executive will succeed Devin Carty as Wellvana’s chief executive officer. Carty will transition to the role of Wellvana’s chairman.

Holt brings more than 30 years of clinical and operational leadership in healthcare to his new role. Most recently, he served as deputy chief medical officer of Humana, Inc., ranked as one of the top 10 healthcare companies in the Fortune 100. At Humana, he oversaw the physician enterprise, corporate clinical strategy and value-based care. Prior to Humana, Holt was executive vice president and chief operating officer of St. Vincent Health System, a multi-hospital system in Indiana. He is past president of the Indiana Medical Licensing Board and past president of the Indiana Academy of Family Physicians. Holt is a retired Air Force major general, having completed a distinguished military career as a fighter pilot (F-16, F-4), and most recently serving as special assistant to the commander and deputy chief of staff, United States Africa Command.
