Effort encourages Midtown residents, business owners to come together and build community during COVID-19 outbreak
Colony Square is launching, “See a Heart, Share a Heart,” an initiative intended to connect the community in this time of isolation and spark joy while practicing social distancing during the COVID-19 outbreak.
Inspired by the heart symbol in the Midtown Atlanta brand seen on street banners and online, the campaign encourages residents and business owners to design their own hearts, share them on Instagram and post the hearts in street-facing windows. Like a community-wide game of “I Spy,” residents are encouraged to take walks outside, explore the urban neighborhood and search for beautiful hearts displayed around the one-mile district as long as they comply with social distancing requirements and the latest government mandates (see “Stay at Home” Order for the City of Atlanta here).
“The coronavirus pandemic has introduced a severe lack of human interaction, something we all crave but too often take for granted,” said Mark Toro, North American Properties’ chairman of the board and Midtown Alliance board chair. “See a Heart, Share a Heart is our way of showing solidarity and support for everyone affected – after all, we are in this together. If there is any good that has come from this unprecedented moment in history, it is our collective realization of the importance of community. Once the storm has passed, Midtown and all of Atlanta will rise together to become stronger than ever.”
See a Heart, Share a Heart in Midtown launches today. Hearts will be on display throughout the next few weeks. Colony Square has created a free downloadable heart printout available for use here. Participants are encouraged to share their “heartwork” on Instagram tagging @ColonySquareATL and using the hashtags #AloneTogether and #MidtownATLStrong for a chance to win a $25 gift card to one of Colony Square’s restaurants, including Establishment, 5Church, Freshii, Moe’s, Chick-fil-A, Starbucks and Sukoshi. The gift cards will be used to support Colony Square’s restaurants and employees throughout these difficult times.
