Dentons, the world’s largest law firm, today announces the addition of Perry Smith as a partner in the Corporate practice. He will advise clients in a variety of transactions, including mergers and acquisitions, and corporate finance and securities matters. Smith will be resident in the Firm’s Atlanta office.

Most recently, Smith was vice president and general counsel for a global business unit of a major multinational property and casualty insurance carrier. He was previously in private practice and represented companies of diverse sizes, cultures and life-cycle stages, from startups to the Fortune 15, in sectors such as insurance, health care, technology, manufacturing and consumer products. He has executed dozens of deals totaling billions of dollars in transaction value, including mergers, acquisitions, joint ventures and other business combinations; securities offerings, private equity, venture capital investments and corporate finance transactions; and business integration, segregation and outsourcing.

“Perry has extensive experience in strategic and commercial corporate transactions, corporate finance and securities matters, having executed high-stakes deals from both an outside and an in-house perspective,” said US CEO Mike McNamara. Active in the Atlanta community, Smith serves on the board of directors of the Candler Park Conservancy, where he is projects committee chair. He is also involved with numerous other civic, charitable, athletic and educational organizations. He holds a JD from Northwestern University School of Law and a BA from Duke University.
