Sean A. Gordon

ATLANTA--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Thompson Hine LLP is pleased to announce that Sean A. Gordon has returned to the firm as a partner in the firm’s Business Restructuring, Creditors’ Rights & Bankruptcy practice. He joins from Greenberg Traurig, LLP.

“I am thrilled to return to Thompson Hine,” said Gordon. “The firm’s culture and people accurately reflect my professional and personal values. Thompson Hine’s focus on innovation, transparency and value will greatly benefit my clients, and I am looking forward to contributing to the development of the firm’s restructuring practice in the Southeast and to the practice group and firm as a whole.”

Gordon has a dynamic practice and works with various business, bank, committee, trustee and lending clients in a number of specialized areas. His practice focuses on bankruptcy, commercial loan workouts, creditors’ rights and commercial litigation. He has represented debtors, creditors’ committees, trustees, lenders, individual creditors, lessors, lessees and landlords, both inside and outside of bankruptcy. He is experienced in all phases of general commercial litigation and bankruptcy litigation through trial and appeal. Recently, Gordon recovered over $17 million on behalf of a liquidating trust in a Chapter 11 case involving litigation against a plan sponsor in the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the District of Delaware.

Experienced in handling commercial real estate valuation matters, Gordon frequently represents banking clients in foreclosure-related litigation and contested foreclosure confirmation hearings across Georgia. He also routinely defends banks and national financial services organizations in actions by borrowers asserting mortgage-related claims, including allegations of wrongful foreclosure, Real Estate Settlement Procedures Act (RESPA) violations, Truth in Lending Act (TILA) violations, slander to title and state mortgage statute violations.

“We enthusiastically welcome Sean back to the firm,” said Tim McDonald, Atlanta office partner-in-charge, of Gordon’s return to Thompson Hine. “Sean originally helped expand Thompson Hine’s insolvency and bankruptcy litigation practice to the Southeast and now provides additional experience at the local level. He is an important strategic addition to the Atlanta office and the practice.”

Gordon is the fourth partner to join Thompson Hine’s Atlanta office in recent months. In May, well-known trial lawyer Marla Butler joined the Business Litigation practice group and earlier this year partners John Wymer and Bryan Stillwagon joined the Labor & Employment practice.

Gordon received his B.A. and B.S. from the University of Florida and his J.D. from Case Western Reserve University.
