Dentons’ Alison Elko Franklin Honored with Atlanta Bar Association David W. Pollard Award

6/13/19

Dentons, the world’s largest law firm, announces that Alison Elko Franklin received recognition as a top performing bankruptcy lawyer in Atlanta with the David W. Pollard Award. Each year, the Bankruptcy Section of the Atlanta Bar Association presents the David W. Pollard award to a member of the Atlanta bar who best exemplifies the highest standards of professionalism and ethics in the bankruptcy practice.

Franklin, senior managing associate, received the award in part for her influential role as a past chair of the Bankruptcy Section and elevating it to success. She focuses her practice on corporate reorganizations, municipal reform, creditors' rights litigation and distressed transactions, and represents debtors, trustees, creditors' committees and creditors in Chapter 11 reorganizations, Chapter 9 municipal debt adjustments, Chapter 15 cross-border insolvency proceedings and Chapter 7 liquidations. She also prosecutes and defends bankruptcy litigation matters, including plan and claims objections, sale issues, cash collateral disputes, stay relief issues, avoidance actions and bankruptcy appeals to district and circuit courts.

During Franklin’s tenure as section chair, she expanded volunteer opportunities available for members, and under her leadership, the Bankruptcy Section received the Community Service Award, the Pro Bono Award, and the Small Section of the Year Award from the Atlanta Bar Association. Franklin is a co-founder and volunteer advisor for the Low Income Creditor Assistance Project, a co-founder and volunteer for the Reaffirmation Project, and the chair of the Advisory Committee to the Modest Means Program sponsored by the Atlanta Bar Association's Lawyer Referral and Information Service.

The Honorable C. Ray Mullins, retired Judge from the United States Bankruptcy Court for the Northern District of Georgia, presented Franklin with the award at a luncheon, held annually to honor the award’s recipients. Mullins and Franklin share a special connection. Prior to joining private practice, Franklin clerked for Mullins, and Mullins received the David W. Pollard Award in 2016.
