Atlanta Marks Second WELL Certification Silver Achieved by Cushman & Wakefield

Cushman & Wakefield’s Atlanta office has been awarded WELL Certification at the Silver level by the International WELL Building Institute™. The prestigious distinction was awarded through IWBI’s WELL Building Standard™ (WELL), a premier building standard focusing on enhancing people’s health and wellness through the buildings where we live, work and play. The company’s Chicago office and global headquarters also achieved certification this year.

Cushman & Wakefield is a Founding Alliance Member of the Well Living Lab, underscoring its commitment to evolving the built environment to best support human needs and enhancing the performance of people in the workplace by making wellness a priority.Additionally, three of Cushman & Wakefield’s Sustainability Services employees are WELL faculty members.

Cushman & Wakefield consolidated its Atlanta operations to two full floors at 1180 Peachtree Street in Midtown in August 2018.1180 Peachtree was the first high-rise office building in the world to be pre-certified LEED-CS Silver, and an acre of the site is devoted to public spaces, plazas and gardens. The Atlanta office is the second Cushman & Wakefield office to achieve WELL Certification at the Silver level behind Chicago, and is only the second project in Atlanta to receive WELL Certification.

Created through seven years of rigorous research and development working with leading physicians, scientists, and industry professionals, the WELL Building Standard™ is a performance-based certification system that marries best practices in design and construction with evidence-based scientific research. Cushman & Wakefield’s Atlanta office earned the distinction based on seven categories of building performance— Air, Water, Light,Nourishment, Fitness, Comfort and Mind — and achieved a Silver level rating.

Project features that helped Cushman & Wakefield’s Atlanta office achieve its WELL Certified™ Silver rating include:

  • High air and water quality, thermal comfort and lighting quality and levels within the space.
  • Food sold or supplied that met standards that minimize sugar, artificial ingredients and processed foods.
  • Sit-stand workstations, ergonomic seating and workstations, and a comprehensive corporate fitness and wellness program to support employee health.
  • Natural patterns, materials and colors used.

WELL is grounded in a body of evidence-based research that explores the connection between the buildings where we spend approximately 90 percent of our time and the health and wellness impacts on us as occupants of these buildings. To be awarded WELL Certification by IWBI, Cushman & Wakefield’s Atlanta office underwent rigorous testing and a final evaluation carried out by Green Business Certification Inc. (GBCI), which is the third-party certification body for WELL, to ensure it met all WELL Certified™ Silver performance requirements.
