Peachtree Road Race qualifier invites Atlantans to race through historic Westside
WHAT: On Saturday, March 23 at 8:30 a.m., Atlanta-based nonprofit City of Refuge will host its sixth annual Refuge Run, a 5K race through the streets where the organization has called home for nearly 16 years. The Refuge Run helps bring a focus on the needs of the 30314 zip code and aims to open the eyes of participants as they traverse a path where most people who benefit from City of Refuge live.
This Peachtree Road Race qualifier will take runners along a course through historic Vine City, starting and ending at the City of Refuge campus on Joseph E. Boone Blvd NW. The event offers a glimpse into the transitioning neighborhood and will be filled with swag from local partners, light bites and plenty of feel-good stories of life transformation.
Additionally, City of Refuge Founder Bruce Deel will celebrate the release of Trust First, a story about the power of giving people second chances, this summer. During the Refuge Run, guests will have the opportunity to pre-order the book set to deliver July 23.
Online registration for the 2019 Refuge Run will be open until March 18 for $35 per person. On-site registration will increase to $45 per person. If runners are interested in participating but are unable to attend the event, a virtual run option is also available until March 31.
