Tracy Bowers
The Atlanta Apartment Association (AAA) has named Tracy Bowers, managing director of Matrix Residential, the 2019 chair of the association’s board of directors. Prior to Bowers’ appointment, she served on the AAA board for eight years.
“Tracy is ideally suited to be our 2019 chair with her deep board experience and the prominent role she has played in our association for many years,” said Jim Fowler, president of AAA. “Her optimistic outlook and understanding of not only AAA but also the multifamily industry will make her successful in this position.”
As chair, Bowers will focus on two major AAA initiatives in 2019: the association’s efforts to alleviate the multifamily industry’s labor shortage and positioning AAA in a leadership role to provide solutions to the lack of affordable housing in our local area. Bowers plans to support and expand two programs associated with these initiatives, the Service Training Academy and the Affordability Subcommittee.
The Service Training Academy’s mission is to provide a comprehensive program to prepare individuals to work as a service team professional. The Service Training Academy has seen two classes graduate since its inception in 2018. Additionally AAA recently established an Affordability Subcommittee to serve as a forum to generate ideas and work on developing solutions to the growing challenge around workforce housing and affordable housing in general.
“It is a great honor to serve as the 2019 AAA Chair,” said Bowers. “I look forward to pursuing execution of our initiatives and upholding the values of the association. My goal is to continue positive momentum and make enduring decisions for AAA.”
Bowers is responsible for the overall operations of Matrix Residential as well as focusing on strategy and client relations. During her career, Bowers has managed over 100,000 units in the Southeast and Southwest submarkets. Prior to joining Matrix Residential, Bowers was a Senior Vice President for The Worthing Companies for 20 years and Senior Director for Greystar. Bowers earned her Bachelor of Business Administration from The University of Georgia and a Master of Science in Management/Organizational Behavior from Georgia State University. She also earned an interior design degree from The Art Institute of Atlanta.
