Restaurateur Debuts First East Coast Concept at Colony Square

With an artful Italian menu, Iselle Kitchen + Bar will open in Fall 2019

He earned headlines up and down the West Coast with downtown San Diego’s Double Standard Kitchenetta and Scottsdale’s soon-to-open Parma Italian Roots, and now Chef Chris Gentile is introducing his latest concept to the East Coast, opening Iselle Kitchen + Bar at Midtown Atlanta’s 14th and Peachtree Streets at Colony Square, Fall of 2019.

Leading the Charge

The restaurateur known for his artfully prepared, West Coast-influenced Italian cuisine favoring premium-quality seafood, exploring refreshing and unexpected fusions of flavor and highlighting independent farmers is no stranger to the South, having studied under some of the best chefs in the area and working at Asheville, North Carolina’s Biltmore Estate. He then headed west, where he honed his skills under several of the region’s top culinary talents before heading back to the Atlanta area, where his family now resides. Gentile is especially excited to plant roots near his family.

“I can’t wait to cook for my parents when they come in,” Gentile said. “It already feels like home for me.”

Iselle is already set to be a true family affair — Gentile’s own father, a local jazz pianist, will perform regularly at the bistro. For those with an adventurous spirit, expect a memorable menu infused with the energy and talent of the young chef, pulling from both his Italian and southern roots and inspired by the liveliness of the area.

“There’s a level of urban vibrancy here that you just can’t find elsewhere,” Gentile said, of his decision to open in Midtown. “Colony Square is in the midst of an incredible renaissance, and we’re eager to introduce our own take on Italian to the area while we’re right here in the center of the action.”

On the Menu

Gentile’s passion for cooking comes from a creative fervor and ardent appreciation for the power of shared experiences, and Iselle’s menu is familiar enough to appeal to fans of classic Italian, yet distinctive enough to deliver plenty of opportunities for more adventurous diners. Start off your lunch with the Ricotta-Stuffed Squash Blossoms, and then split the Speck and Blueberry Bruschetta and a few other small plates with friends for happy hour. Then dive into the Seared Ora King Salmon or Burrata Gnocchi for an indulgent dinner followed by inventive cocktails to make it an all-night affair.

Coming in 2019 to Colony Square

Led by North American Properties (NAP), the iconic mixed-use destination is undergoing a $160 million transformation to become Midtown’s Living Room – a place for Midtown’s 20,000 residents, 70,000 office workers, 25,000 college students and 6.1 million annual visitors to gather and commune. Iselle will be among the first of several first-to-market restaurants to open at the reimagined Colony Square next year.

“Through its food hall and collection of chef-driven restaurants, Colony Square will emerge as an urban dining destination that features a diverse roster of culinary talent, menus and price points,” said Mark Toro, managing partner of NAP. “We are creating a community gathering place that fulfills Midtown’s craving for great food and entertainment, and we look forward to welcoming Iselle to our corner of Main and Main.”

Other exciting experiences coming to Colony Square include its 28,000-square-foot food hall and iPic, a best-in-class, experiential movie theater with nine auditoriums, all equipped with 4K digital cinema technology; farm-to-glass cocktails with “ninja-like” servers; and a restaurant by three-time James Beard award-winning Chef Sherry Yard. Colony Square’s redevelopment will be completed holiday 2020.
