Clark Atlanta University Hosts 12th National Symposium on Prostate Cancer

Event on September 16-19th to feature Plenary Session with National Institute on Minority Health and Health Disparities (NIMHD)Director

Located on the campus of Clark Atlanta University, The Center for Cancer Research and Therapeutic Development (CCRTD) will once again host the 12th National Symposium on Prostate Cancer on September 16-19, 2018. The symposium, the only one of its kind on prostate cancer in North America, represents a scientific gathering of leading prostate cancer scientists, eminent scholars, researchers and therapeutic experts from throughout the US and abroad.

The three day symposium is a combination of plenary sessions, workshops and untold opportunities to discuss and learn about the latest in research and discovery related to Prostate Cancer. Attendees will also have the opportunity to attend presentations, poster sessions and workshop discussions.

This year’s plenary session will feature Dr. Eliseo J. Perez-Stable, National Institutes of Health (NIH) Director, Minority Health and Disparities. Dr. Pérez-Stable practiced general internal medicine for 37 years at the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF) before moving to NIH in September 2015. For more than 30 years, Dr. Pérez-Stable led research on Latino smoking cessation and tobacco control policy in the United States and Latin America, addressing clinical and prevention issues in cancer screening, and mentoring over 70 minority investigators. He has published over 250 peer-reviewed articles and was elected to the National Academy of Medicine in 2001.

12th National Symposium on Prostate Cancer starts Sunday at the Thomas W. Cole Jr. Research Center for Science and Technology located on the campus of Clark Atlanta University.
