Atlanta Entrepreneurs Expect Revenues, Jobs to Continue Climb

The early part of this year was good for entrepreneurs nationally, and great for Atlanta entrepreneurs in particular, according to a survey by EO Atlanta, the voice of entrepreneurs in Atlanta.

This is an important survey for the health of the Atlanta economy. Combined, the membership of EO Atlanta employs more than 12,500 people. When put up against the Atlanta Business Chronicle’s annual list of Largest Employers, they would rank ninth behind Emory Healthcare in terms of number of employees.

“The Global Entrepreneur Indicator is a critical measuring stick, as it is unfiltered responses from the men and women who are on the front lines of the global economy, and it shows our members are looking to grow and add employees in the second half of the year,” said Ethan King, President, EO Atlanta. “For Atlanta and our local membership, there is a sense of optimism as the current economic growth creates opportunities for smart, well-run companies.”

Nationally, more than 71 percent of the respondents indicated their revenues were up, and more than 65 percent said their profits had increased over the six-month period. Those numbers were slightly higher for Atlanta entrepreneurs, with 78 percent saying their revenues increased, and 66 percent indicating their net profits were headed in a positive direction.

Perhaps more promising, 68 percent of the Atlanta survey respondents said they plan to add full-time employees over the next six months, and 90 percent said they expect revenues to continue to climb.
