Award-winning design firm Cooper Carry completes Georgian Hall and Inn at Barnsley Resort

Design firm Cooper Carry announced the completion of the new Inn at Barnsley Resort and Georgian Hall at the renowned Barnsley Resort in Adairsville, Georgia. The expansion adds 55 rooms and more than 9,000 square feet of meeting space to the English-inspired village known for its tranquil countryside setting, historic 19th century Manor House Ruins and world-class outdoor recreation.

“Cooper Carry’s masterful design is harmonious with the quality, scale and context of Barnsley Resort’s historic character,” said Shawn Jervis, general manager at Barnsley Resort. “This beautiful expansion elevates our resort experience, and we are already seeing a significant increase in bookings for leisure getaways and corporate groups.”

Taking design cues from a classic English country manor house, the Inn at Barnsley Resort is now the largest building located on the 3,000-acre property, and serves as the central arrival point for the resort. Spacious king and double queen rooms offer 15 unique guest experiences defined by select features such as vaulted ceilings with exposed rafters, dormers, Juliet balconies and window seats.

The Inn’s expansive Living Room featuring a grand staircase and large fireplace creates a new social hub for guests and visitors, while a large three-bay Presidential Suite with a private outdoor terrace provides scenic views to the nearby Beer Garden restaurant and resort village. Rich wood paneling and hardwood floors coordinated by Kent Interior Design are found throughout. The freshly landscaped lawn includes pathways leading to fire pits throughout the property.

“Cooper Carry’s design for the Inn at Barnsley Resort weaves a cohesive narrative that illustrates the timeless appeal of the village and creates a unique experience for guests,” said Pope Bullock, principal with Cooper Carry’s hospitality studio. “The Inn is a signature component in the vision for the project, and we’re pleased to have partnered with Barnsley Resort in creating new additions to this renowned destination that will draw leisure and business travelers from across the Southeast and beyond.”

The new Georgian Hall is directly adjacent to the historic Rice House restaurant, and fulfills growing demand for corporate meeting and event space at the resort. Totaling 4,700 square feet, the new Savannah Ballroom is Georgian Hall’s largest meeting space, and features a soaring vaulted ceiling with exposed rafters and trusses, large dormer windows that let in abundant natural light, painted millwork and a striking floor-to-ceiling fireplace. The ballroom accommodates up to 500 guests for a reception or 350 for a seated dining option, and can also be divided into two spaces through a specially designed partition wall, providing flexibility for events.

An expansive southern-style porch with numerous double doors wraps around the entire length of Georgian Hall, offering a picturesque outdoor space that seamlessly blends the interior to exterior for receptions and gatherings. A large octagonal rotunda porch at the main entry also serves as an outdoor room, and creates a landmark that locates the facility within the surrounding resort. The porches and terrace areas feature wood columns, beams and ceilings, classic stone flooring, and impressive views of both a nearby meadow and the 19th century Manor House Ruins. Additional meeting and event space at Georgian Hall include the Dalton Room, Savannah Terrace and Estate Lawn.

“The design for Georgian Hall embraces classic Southern charm and complements the facility’s proximity to the Rice House,” said Kathy Logan, senior associate with Cooper Carry’s hospitality studio. “The inviting exterior façade draws visitors into Georgian Hall, where patrons will find gathering space that is both highly flexible and authentic in character. We congratulate Barnsley Resort on expanding their options to create a world-class venue for meetings and special events.”

The recent expansion creates an additional 100 jobs at Barnsley Resort, which has been named among “Top Resorts in the South” by both USA Today and Condé Nast Traveler. Barnsley Resort celebrated the official grand opening of the Inn and Georgian Hall on March 19.
