The Massachusetts Pirates Fight to Keep Winning Streak Alive as they Head to South Carolina

5/17/18

The Pirates are on the road again this week and revenge will be on their minds as they return to the Greensboro Coliseum in North Carolina, Saturday at 7 pm to face the Cobras.

The Cobras handed the Pirates the only loss of the season back on April 21, 55 to 47. Since that meeting Carolina has improved on both sides of the ball establishing the National Arena Leagues’ best offense scoring 53.8 points per game, while the Pirates are close behind at 53.5. The Cobras defense also ranks first allowing 34.8 points per game while Massachusetts gives up 39.8.

The Pirates are coming off of an exciting overtime win from last Saturday night as Quarterback Sean Brackett dove into the end zone for a two point conversion as the Massachusetts Pirates came from behind in overtime to defeat the Maine Mammoths 44 to 43 at the DCU Center. The victory improved the Pirates record to 5-1 while Maine fell to 1-4. For Massachusetts, it was its first ever venture into overtime.

They return to New England on Saturday, May 26 at 7 pm to face the Jacksonville Sharks.

A member of the National Arena League, the Massachusetts Pirates will play all their home games at the DCU Center in Worcester. The regular season will run through Saturday, August 4, 2018. Ninety percent of the Massachusetts Pirates roster has previously signed National Football League contracts and many of the players come from some of the biggest Division 1 college programs in the country.

Fans can also enjoy the games on NESN (New England Sports Network) which is televising all eight (8) Pirates home games during the 2018 season on tape-delay on NESNplus. Each of these games will also air on NESN National and on NESN primary during the week.

NESN is also airing an all access show on the team with behind the scenes footage.

NESN will also be airing multiple thirty minute documentary specials beginning in May, following the Pirates as they navigate through their first season of action. The audience will get an in depth look at the lives of the players, coaches and front office members who are at the forefront of Massachusetts’ newest professional sports franchise.
