37-Acre County Square Deal Unanimously Approved by County Council
RocaPoint Partners, along with The Georgetown Company, received unanimous approval from Greenville County Council members for the $1B redevelopment of 37 acres along downtown’s University Ridge. The Atlanta-based developer will, in conjunction with the County, revitalize the corridor and create a live-work-play district, complete with a new build-to-suit County government building.
RocaPoint Partners will add a total of approximately 3-million square feet to include new Class A office, retail, hotels, residential and public spaces to Greenville’s County Square as part of the project, which is expected to bring up to 5,500 jobs. The project will feature a new park, as well as a large open plaza and central gathering area at the new County administrative office facility, which also allows for visitors and employees to walk through the center of the building to connect to trails.
“RocaPoint and Georgetown have experience developing 24/7 lifestyle centers across the country, and we’re thrilled to bring that expertise to this once-in-a-lifetime project in Greenville,” said Phil Mays, principal of RocaPoint Partners. “The project is going to have a $1.1-billion impact on the local economy and create a more walkable environment to further support local business growth, as well as providing a distinct gathering place for residents and visitors.”
RocaPoint Partners was selected through an RFP process that was narrowed from six developers to three, with the RocaPoint team ultimately being chosen to move forward with the Council votes. RocaPoint will continue to work closely with Greenville officials to ensure that all local ordinances are followed and the local community is kept up-to-date through the process.
