Colony Square to Host Week of Activities for ‘National Bike to Work Week,’ May 14-18

Midtown community invited to experience exciting lineup of cycle-themed events

WHAT: May is National Bike Month and in celebration of National Bike to Work Week, Colony Square is showcasing the benefits of biking by rewarding those who bike to work with special events and giveaways between Monday, May 14 and Friday, May 18.

More than 25 percent of Colony Square’s tenants live within a five-mile radius and this national celebration is the perfect opportunity for commuters to engage in environmentally friendly transportation. Throughout the week, Colony Square will give away a variety of useful gear such as reusable travel bags, bike patching kits and bike lights.

Colony Square’s event schedule for National Bike to Work Week is as follows:

Monday, May 14:

  • 8 to 9:30 a.m.: Bicycle commuters can pick up an ‘I Bike to Work’ sticker and Colony Square swag, plus enjoy Café + Velo catered sandwiches.
  • Noon to 1 p.m.: Bicycle commuters are invited to join Bruce Hagan from SoPo at the flag pole bike racks as its team demonstrates how to keep bikes safe and well-maintained.

Wednesday, May 16:

  • 8 to 9:30 a.m.: Bicycle commuters are invited to enjoy coffee from Southern Pedaler in the Colony Square valet loop.
  • Noon to 1 p.m.: Southern Pedaler will provide a lunch shuttle to Babalu restaurant.

Thursday, May 17:

  • 8 to 9:30 a.m.: Bicycle commuters can pick up an ‘I Bike to Work’ sticker and Colony Square swag. The Spindle will be also onsite throughout the morning with a pop-up store offering professional bike clothing and accessories.
  • 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.: Bicycle commuters are invited to join Stephen Springs, education director for the Atlanta Bicycle Coalition, during a ‘Hack Your Commute’ cycling class which will take guests on a round trip demonstration of urban mobility tactics.

Friday, May 18:

  • 6:30 to 9:30 a.m.: Bicycle commuters are invited to grab a snack or drink from the Bike Energizer Station provided by Colony Square’s Mobility Concierge at the corner of 14th and Peachtree Streets.
  • 5 p.m.: Bicycle commuters are invited to take a collective ride from Colony Square toAtlanta Bicycle Coalition’s ‘#BikeThereAffair’ atThe Spindle. Encouraged for bike veterans or first timers, the collective ride is designed to make all bicycle cruisers feel comfortable. Pedal to the event to celebrate with all of Atlanta Bicycle Coalition’s partners, including CLIF BAR, pick up awesome giveaways and participate in additional bicycle-themed activities.
