Exciting new ramen concept serves patrons authentic, artisanal dishes in a modern, stylish environment

Tanaka Ramen announced today its first Georgia restaurant located in TOWN Brookhaven will open in mid-May. The restaurant currently has locations in Chicago and College Station, Texas.

Tanaka Ramen brings the dream of a fresh, gourmet and affordable Japanese ramen bar to Atlanta. Named after the skilled Japanese ramen chef who inspired the restaurant’s creation, Tanaka Ramen seeks to serve delicious traditional flavors in a chic, modern environment. The Japanese take their food seriously: Japan is a land of art, and their cuisine is no exception and neither is Tanaka Ramen.

“Ramen was never meant to be a college staple food, bought in bulk at the supermarket for 10 cents a packet,” says Tina Wang, co-owner of Tanaka Ramen. “Tanaka Ramen seeks to provide our patrons with true, quality ramen in all its artisanal, gourmet glory. We’re excited to bring traditional Japanese cuisine to Atlanta.”

At Tanaka Ramen, diners will see why the Japanese consider ramen to be “soul food.” There is plenty of room for diners to let their own palate shine with a variety of ingredients and toppings to build their own ramen. Guests can also choose from several signature recipes, including the Signature Tonkotsu flavored with hearty pork broth, house ramen sauce and organic black garlic oil; the Miso Hokkaido that is elevated by miso imported directly from Japan; and the chicken ramen that is characterized by high-quality organic chicken broth that has been simmered slowly for over 10 hours for maximum flavor. Vegetarian and vegan dishes are also available. A full menu can be viewed here.

The restaurant also offers a variety of tempting rice bowls and appetizers such as its pan-fried dumplings, vegetable tempura and Furaidochikin, a Japanese-style fried chicken covered in either a sweet or spicy sauce. Additionally, Tanaka Ramen offers a variety of house-made desserts, including its Sakura raindrop cake, Matcha Crème brûlée and Mochi ice cream.

All of the dishes are made from scratch with the highest quality ingredients. The secret to delicious, artisanal ramen is good homemade broth: the restaurant’s noodles and broth are made daily in-house.

“In the Tanaka kitchen, we make our broths through a special slow steeping process with quality whole chickens, pork bones, and vegetables,” said Wang. “It takes a full 12 hours to make our chicken broth and more than 14 hours to make the pork broth. There’s no MSG in our dishes – it’s real chicken soup and real pork soup. If a chef in Japan wouldn’t put it in his food, we won’t put it in ours.”
