Jon Slangerup
American Global Logistics (AGL) announced today that Jon Slangerup has been named new Chief Executive Officer and Executive Chairman of the Board. Slangerup will succeed Jim Briles, who is stepping down to spend more time with his family. Under Briles’ leadership, American Global Logistics has become one of the fastest-growing and most respected international supply chain and logistics visibility companies in the world.
“On behalf of the Board of Directors, we thank Jim for everything he’s done for AGL and the industry overall. Jim co-founded this company, and for a decade he has applied his managerial skills and knowledge of the industry to propel AGL to a leadership position,” said Jon Slangerup. “I am enthusiastic to continue the great momentum that Jim established for AGL by accelerating growth, delivering unmatched service and focusing on the success of our customers around the globe.”
Jon Slangerup previously served as American Global Logistics Chairman of the Board and has a career that spans more than 30 years in the logistics industry. Slangerup has held numerous leadership positions that include his experience as CEO of the Port of Long Beach— one of the world’s premier seaports and a primary gateway for trans-Pacific trade—as well as the former President of FedEx Canada, the billion-dollar subsidiary of FedEx Corporation.
In addition to Slangerup’s position as CEO, American Global Logistics announced that Blake Shumate has been promoted to Chief Operating Officer, having previously served as its Chief Solutions Officer. “Blake brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise to all operating aspects of our business. Not only is he an outstanding team player and leader, Blake sets the bar high for delivering exceptional customer service, a cornerstone of AGL’s success,” said Slangerup.
