Fish & Richardson announced today that principals Thad Kodish and Corrin Drakulich have won Professional Excellence awards from the Daily Report. Kodish, who is the managing principal of Fish’s Atlanta office, was named a “Distinguished Leader,” based on the impressive results he achieved in 2016. Drakulich, who is the hiring principal in Fish’s Atlanta office, was named to the “On the Rise” list, which includes 30 lawyers under the age of 40 who have wielded influence in their practice areas in Georgia and beyond. They will be recognized at an event in Atlanta on June 29, 2017.
Kodish was singled out as a distinguished leader for his high profile patent litigation win in 2016 for longtime client, Georgia-based Shaw Industries. Law360 twice hailed the ruling in Shaw Industries v. Automated Creel Systems (Fed. Cir. Mar. 23, 2016) as one of 2016’s most important patent decisions. The holding in Shaw that limits the scope of estoppel stemming from inter partes review proceedings has already been widely cited by the Federal Circuit and numerous Federal District courts, and many commentators predict it will have a far-ranging impact on patent litigation for years to come. Kodish has an active practice specializing in patent and intellectual property (IP) litigation across a wide range of technologies in venues across the U.S. An experienced courtroom lawyer, he has first-chaired and led litigation teams for some of the firm’s largest clients. He received his J.D. from Emory University School of Law in 2000 and his B.S., cum laude, in chemical engineering from the University of Michigan in 1996.
Drakulich was named a rising star for her impressive patent litigation wins for plaintiffs and defendants in cases spanning a wide range of technologies. Most recently, Drakulich served as lead counsel for Atlanta-based medtech company EndoChoice, Inc. – recognized as one of the fastest growing companies in the U.S. by Inc. magazine – in patent and trademark litigations against Medigus Ltd. The cases involved EndoChoice’s state of the art endoscopic imaging technology. Drakulich and her team successfully resolved both of the litigations, obtaining a global settlement on the eve of EndoChoice being acquired by Boston Scientific. Drakulich received her J.D. from University of California, Berkeley (Boalt Hall) in 2007 and her B.S., summa cum laude, in microbiology from University of Georgia in 2004.
