Brock Hudgins Architects has four decades of experience with complex infill projects

Two award-winning architects have teamed up to launch a new firm focused on the design of major urban intown development and renovation projects.

Brock Hudgins Architects is led by Eric Brock and Ben Hudgins who, over several decades, have delivered more than 10,000 living spaces in creative projects which achieve desired density while integrating new construction into the existing urban fabric.

They have created several highly-regarded projects in the Southeastern United States including StudioPlex, an American Institute of Architects (AIA) Georgia Design of Excellence Award winner, MidCity Lofts, an AIA South Atlantic Region Merit Award recipient and Seventh Midtown, an AIA Atlanta Chapter Residential Design Honor Award winner.

“Ben and I love to design creative, functional and award-winning buildings in interesting and challenging places,” said Eric Brock, principal. “We are excited to launch our new firm, which will allow us to focus wholly on creating acclaimed buildings in urban environments.”

Brock Hudgins Architects are experts in planning and zoning as well, from initial site analysis through the neighborhood and jurisdictional review process. Their projects are complex and often involve a mix of new construction, adaptive reuse, historic preservation, and mixed-use programs.

Brock’s projects have earned more than 25 design awards from organizations such as the Georgia and Atlanta chapters of the AIA, the South Atlantic Region of the AIA, the American Society of Interior Designers, the Georgia Trust for Historic Preservation and the Atlanta Urban Design Commission.

He was the Director of the housing and mixed-use studio for Lord Aeck Sargent; a practice he established upon the acquisition of Brock Green Architects and Planners, a nationally-recognized Atlanta-based architecture firm co-founded with David Green in 1994. He is a graduate of Georgia Tech and earned his Master’s degree in architecture from the University of Pennsylvania.

Hudgins specializes in urban design and mixed-used developments. Over the past decade, he has worked with public and private clients ranging from small, local developers to large, national companies and institutions. With a background in planning and an extensive knowledge of various building typologies, he is an expert in creatively solving complex design problems and addressing complex urban-infill sites.

He previously served as a designer and project manager at Lord Aeck Sargent, working alongside Brock for nearly a decade. He holds an undergraduate degree and Master’s degree in architecture from Georgia Tech.

During their tenure together, Brock and Hudgins designed several notable projects including Berkshire Terminus, an AIA Atlanta Chapter Residential Design Merit Award winner, and Seventh Midtown, an AIA Atlanta Chapter Residential Design Honor Award winner.
