David Phillips Joins Eversheds Sutherland as Partner

Eversheds Sutherland (US) LLP is pleased to announce that David S. Phillips has joined the firm’s Corporate Practice Group as a partner in the Atlanta office. Prior to joining Eversheds Sutherland (US), Mr. Phillips served as ?Deputy General Counsel and Corporate Secretary at Axiall Corporation.

With more than 20 years of experience—both in private practice and as a senior legal officer for a large, publicly traded manufacturer of chemicals and building products—Mr. Phillips advises clients on a broad range of corporate governance matters and complex business transactions, including mergers and acquisitions (M&A), strategic investments, capital formation, divestitures, debt and equity restructurings, and securities offerings.

“Having served as a law firm partner and as in-house counsel, David’s first-hand knowledge of complex corporate legal issues is invaluable and will greatly enhance the representation available to our clients,” said Mark D. Mr. Phillips’ extensive experience includes counseling companies operating in the manufacturing, technology and distribution sectors on their most strategically significant matters, including advising some of the nation’s leading chemical and consumer goods companies in connection with their acquisitions and dispositions.

He also regularly represents private equity funds in their portfolio investments as well as sponsors in connection with fund formation and regulatory matters affecting funds and fund sponsors. To date, he has handled more than 100 of these representations.

Mr. Phillips’ previous experience includes being seconded to the in-house legal department of a leading Japanese automotive manufacturer, where he provided general counseling advice with respect to US legal matters.
