Partner Mark Lange establishes tax practice in Atlanta office

International and domestic tax attorney Mark Lange has joined BakerHostetler as a partner in the Tax Group. He is the first tax attorney in BakerHostetler’s Atlanta office. The firm added the office in 2014 through a combination with leading intellectual property boutique firm Woodcock Washburn, and in 2015, the Atlanta office expanded with the addition of a 32-lawyer healthcare, corporate, real estate and litigation team from McKenna Long & Aldridge. Lange comes to the firm from Holland & Knight. 

With a primary focus on transactional tax matters, Lange has more than 30 years of experience counseling clients on mergers and acquisitions, partnerships, joint ventures, debt financing and audits. He represents high-profile, multinational public companies in a multitude of industries, including aviation, healthcare, technology, telecommunications, biotechnology and e-commerce.

Lange regularly represents clients before the IRS and state departments of revenue, as well as in state court and the United States Tax Court. He is credited with obtaining the first IRS private letter ruling involving a tender-offer procedure related to the private business use of the proceeds from tax-exempt bonds. Lange also advises healthcare providers, skilled nursing homes and senior health facilities in tax-exempt entity matters.

Lange is a nationally ranked Chambers USA tax attorney. He received his J.D., cum laude, from Indiana University Maurer School of Law in 1980. Lange earned an M.S. in Tax, with highest distinction, from DePaul University in 1981, and a B.S., with highest distinction, from Purdue University in 1977.
