Burr & Forman LLP announces the addition of Atlanta-based partner Elizabeth B. Davis to the firm’s Real Estate Practice. Davis serves manufacturers, distributors, retailers, developers, lenders, and property owners involved in environmental, consumer product safety, food, drug, and medical device, and product liability matters, including regulatory compliance, permitting, enforcement defense and litigation. She is a former attorney with the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, and was most recently a partner at Barnes & Thornburg LLP.

“The environmental experience and talent Beth brings to our firm will continue to serve our clients’ ongoing environmental, CPSC, and FDA related needs, especially as metro Atlanta consistently remains a high-growth area,” said Erich N. Durlacher, Burr & Forman’s president and Atlanta office managing partner. “The leadership Beth brings to our firm is reflected through her dedication to serve in several roles in the American Bar Association, National LGBT Bar Association, and in the Atlanta community.”

Davis represents clients in a broad spectrum of environmental issues. She assists purchasers, lenders and developers with all aspects of brownfield developments in various jurisdictions, including Florida, Georgia, Maryland and Tennessee. She assists clients with permitting under the Clean Air Act, Clean Water Act, Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA), Federal Insecticide, Fungicide, and Rodenticide Act, and the Toxic Substances Control Act. She also represents clients with site remediation and litigation arising under RCRA and the Comprehensive Environmental Response, Compensation, and Liability Act (CERCLA) and defends federal and state enforcement actions under the various environmental statutes and regulations.

Davis counsels her clients in federal and state laws related to hazardous waste, underground storage tanks, water, air, pesticides, toxic substances, and occupational safety and health. She also has experience with the environmental aspects of corporate and real estate transactions, occupational safety and health compliance, environmental insurance recovery, and zoning and land use issues.

Davis also brings significant experience with consumer product safety and food, drug, and medical device requirements. She assists clients in getting to market products regulated under the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) and the Food and Drug Administration (FDA). She works closely with clients and the CPSC and FDA to get products approved and on the market and to address any safety or compliance issues as efficiently and proactively as possible. Where a recall is appropriate, Davis has significant experience negotiating, designing and managing recalls.

Davis is a member of the American Bar Association’s Environment, Energy and Resources (SEER) and Litigations Sections as well as the SEER Special Committee on Science and Technology. She is also a member of the State Bar of Georgia’s Environmental Law Section and the International Association of Defense Counsel. She is actively involved in the National LGBT Bar Association, Lambda Legal’s National Leadership Council, and the Stonewall Bar Association of Georgia.

Davis earned her undergraduate degree from Agnes Scott College and her law degree from the University of Georgia School of Law.
