Michael Connor To Lead Atlanta Buildings Practice At WSP | Parsons Brinckerhoff

Michael Connor has been named a senior vice president of WSP | Parsons Brinckerhoff, a global engineering and professional services organization.

In his new position, Mr. Connor will serve as managing director of the Atlanta buildings practice, leading a multidisciplinary staff of 36 individuals specializing in engineering servicesfor clients across multiple markets but with notable expertise in science and technology and high containment laboratories.

The Atlanta buildings practice of WSP | Parsons Brinckerhoff offers comprehensive services in lab planning and design; mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and fire protection engineering; building technology systems design; and commissioning. Some of the firm’s recent projects in the region include Georgia Tech Marcus Nanotechnology building, the Augusta University Cancer Research Facility, and Emory University Hospital Midtown.

Mr. Connor’s 33 years of experience spans several market sectors including commercial construction, laboratories and research facilities, pharmaceutical manufacturing, and packaging machine development. He has been involved in numerous technically demanding projects in the pharmaceutical and research industries. He is a frequent public speaker on the subjects of engineering and construction of complex laboratory facilities, design/build and validation. He is recognized as an international leader in the field.

Mr. Connor was the founder of the Pivotal Point Group, LLC and Connor Engineering Solutions, consulting firms providing services for complex projects in the U.S. and abroad, including a solar energy research institute, national research foundation facility and center for translational medicine, all in Singapore. From 2009 to 2015, he worked as a consultant and contract employee with Smith Carter USA, a firm that is one of many acquisitions that today make up WSP | Parsons Brinckerhoff in the U.S.

A licensed professional engineer in Georgia, North Carolina, Florida, and Alabama, Mr. Connor received a bachelor of science degree in mechanical engineering from Clemson University. He is a member of the American Society of Heating Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE); International Society for Measurement and Control (ISA); and International Society for Pharmaceutical Engineering (ISPE).

Leslie Gartner, senior vice president and the previous managing director of the Atlanta office, will remain based in Atlanta. With Mr. Connor’s hire, Mr. Gartner has transitioned into a new role leading the development of the WSP | Parsons Brinckerhoff’s national science and technology practice.
