“Putin: Renegotiating the End of the Cold War” is Topic of Feb. 1 Luncheon

The World Affairs Council will present Ambassador Paula Dobriansky; Russia expert, former Undersecretary for Global Affairs at the State Department, senior fellow at Harvard, and leading contender for the new administration’s Deputy Secretary of State. Dobriansky and Clyde Tuggle, senior vice president and chief public affairs and communication officer at The Coca-Cola Company, and president of The Coca-Cola Company for Russia, Ukraine and Belarus from 2005 through 2008. The discussion “Putin: Renegotiating the End of the Cold War” will take place at 11:30 am on Wednesday, February 1 at the City Club of Buckhead.

As Trump’s administration looks to change the U.S.-Russia relationship from enmity to cooperation, there have been many past and recent clashes between the two countries that may challenge this shift in their bilateral relationship. Dobriansky and Tuggle will discuss:

- How realistic is it to anticipate a renewed relationship with Putin and Russia?

- Putin’s goals in renegotiating this new relationship

- Review the positive and negative actions in regards to Russia from Obama’s administration

- The opportunities for trade and investment that can bring the two nations together

The program will give the audience an opportunity to hear insights on this topic from speakers with diplomatic and business expertise on Russia. In addition, an opportunity to meet with Ambassador Dobriansky who will likely become the number two at the U.S. State Department in the upcoming weeks.
