LEGOLAND® Discovery Center Atlanta announced today it has named Roderick “Captain Brick” Farris the attraction’s newest Master Model Builder. In his new position, Farris will be the face of LEGOLAND Discovery Center Atlanta both within the attraction and in the community. He will also be charged with creating innovative LEGO® builds for guests to enjoy, training the other Model Builders and maintaining all brick-related attractions such as MINILAND and the Model Builder Academy.
Farris is an Atlanta resident and has been with the attraction since March of 2014. Before his promotion to Master Model Builder, he held other positions within the attraction and was even awarded Employee of the Year in 2015. Prior to joining the LEGOLAND Discovery Center Atlanta team, Farris served in the United States Army for six years and also worked as a mechanic.
“It is an honor to step into this new role at LEGOLAND Discovery Center Atlanta,” said Farris. “After I left the Army, I searched for a career I could genuinely love that also afforded growth opportunities. I’ve found that here, and l can’t wait to continue my journey as ‘Professor Rod’ as part of the Atlanta community.”
“Rod has been a standout on our staff since he joined us in 2014,” said Penda Meftah, general manager of LEGOLAND Discovery Center Atlanta. “His strong work ethic, ability to navigate challenging situations and pure enthusiasm when interacting with our guests made him a frontrunner both for Employee of the Year in 2015 and now Master Model Builder of the attraction.”
Farris was born in Los Angeles, Calif., but has since adopted Atlanta as his home. He is a member of the Wounded Warrior Project and a proud father to his nine-year-old son. “I’ve been a member of the LEGO Club since I was a little boy, so this is truly a dream come true,” said Farris, “I have the best job in the world!”
