WiredScore recognizes the Midtown development for connectivity, infrastructure and capacity to support new technology
Colony Square, the iconic mixed-use community in Midtown Atlanta, recently joined an elite group of buildings by receiving a Wired Certified Platinum rating for its state-of-the-art Internet connectivity, infrastructure and capacity to readily support new technology.
“In today’s digital age, competitive office buildings must provide first-rate connectivity for tenants,” said Mark Toro, managing partner for North American Properties (NAP), the developer behind the reimagining of Colony Square. “Receiving WiredScore’s highest stamp of approval will further drive leasing efforts at Colony Square as it demonstrates our ability to support current and future tenants with the most stringent technology requirements.”
WiredScore operates the first and only connectivity rating platform for commercial buildings across the U.S. and the United Kingdom. Launched by Mayor Bloomberg and the New York City Economic Development Corporation, WiredScore identifies and certifies buildings with the fastest and most reliable Internet connections. Wired Certified Platinum is the highest rating possible and confirms Colony Square as best in class across all features that matter most to tenants: number and quality of internet service providers, redundancy and resiliency of telecom infrastructure, ease of installation and capacity to readily support new services.
“It’s imperative to our business that we have premier Internet connectivity, as well as the capability to grow as technology continues to evolve,” said Brooks Robinson, co-founder and CEO of Springbot, an innovative ecommerce marketing platform. “Colony Square provides that access at the highest level. We look forward to Colony Square’s continued modernization efforts, making it a truly outstanding place to work."
Colony Square’s two office buildings offer tenants seven unique sources of Type 1 fiber from AT&T, Cogent, Comcast, Level 3, Verizon, XO Communications and Zayo. All of these carriers provide tenants with dedicated, business grade Internet access upon request.
From an infrastructure standpoint, both buildings have access to three points of entry on Peachtree Street, 14th Street and 15th Street. Within the building, there are two continuous risers, which afford providers with available pathways to deliver services to tenants. From a readiness standpoint, both buildings have sufficient spare capacity for new providers, as there is available capacity in at least one point of entry, available floor and wall space for new equipment and available capacity in the risers.
“We are thrilled with the Platinum certification as technology is one of Colony Square’s core values,” said Toro. “We look forward to enhancing our culture of connectivity as the reimagining progress continues at Colony Square.”
Earlier this year, NAP released initial renderings of the modernization, showing tenants the vision for a transformed and reimagined Colony Square. Designed by Beyer Blinder Belle in collaboration with Lord Aeck Sargent, a new rendering is available here, which illustrates the energy and sophistication of the future space.
