SMRP Announces Annual Scholarship Recipients

8/29/16

The Society for Maintenance & Reliability Professionals (SMRP) is pleased to announce the recipients of its annual scholarship program. The winners will be formally announced at the SMRP 2016 Annual Conference in Jacksonville, Florida.

"This year's scholarship application pool was our largest and most competitive to date," said SMRP Executive Director Erin Erickson. "With the aging workforce affecting many of the industries that make up SMRP, it's great to see so many students interested in pursuing meaningful careers in our field."

SMRP offers five scholarships to students involved in programs that translate to careers in maintenance, reliability and physical asset management. Recipients of the 2016-2017 academic year scholarships are:

  • William Fredebeil, University of Tennessee, Knoxville, recipient of the $10,000 Legacy of Excellence Scholarship awarded to one student in a related field of study.
  • Daniel Hess, Auburn University, recipient of the $2,000 SMRP Scholarship, presented to one student in a maintenance and reliability-related field.
  • Fahad Izhar, University of Maryland, recipient of the $2,000 SMRPCO Jack & Dorothy Nicholas Scholarship, awarded to one student in a maintenance and reliability-related field.
  • Payman Dehghanian, Texas A&M University; and Collin Phillips, Auburn University, recipients of the two $2,000 Higher Standards Scholarships, presented to family members of practitioners belonging to SMRP.
