Deputy U.S. Trade Representative Robert Holleyman, former U.S. Senator Saxby Chambliss and UPS chairman and CEO David Abney will discuss how the Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP) will set the rules for 21st century trade at an August 15 luncheon presented by the World Affairs Council of Atlanta.
The panel will examine how the 12-nation trade agreement will:
Open markets for U.S. exports, especially for agricultural products
Facilitate e-commerce, eliminate tariffs and slash red tape
Could accommodate additional countries with access to the agreement
Strengthen the U.S. geopolitically in the Pacific basin
Ensure safeguards for labor and the environment and support small business growth.
Mayor Kasim Reed will open the program with remarks about the importance of global trade to Atlanta.
