Ann Cone, Senior Vice President of CBRE’s Capital Markets’ Debt & Structured Finance team in Atlanta, has received the Career Advancement for Women Award by the Commercial Real Estate Women (CREW) Atlanta Chapter.
Annually, CREW acknowledges the achievements of its members, or ambassadors, who consistently work to help women gain new skills or advance their careers in the field of commercial real estate. Cone’s efforts as Co-Chair for Leadership 2016 and on the Member Education Committee at CREW Network have contributed to her success as this year’s award recipient.
And, her efforts have been unmatched. Cone’s ongoing commitments to connecting others to resources in the real estate industry and approachable personality have helped grow the revamped idea of the UCREW University Outreach program into a respected Atlanta staple. While the program has been available nationally for five years, Cone partnered with Lauren Whitlock with JLL in 2012 to expand UCREW into what it is today.
UCREW partners with universities around Georgia to select its top real estate and finance students for its annual one-day event. Because of the event’s success, the Atlanta chapter has also reached out to Clemson University in South Carolina and Auburn University in Alabama. At the event, students have the opportunity to learn about every aspect of commercial real estate from industry professionals, develop personal skillsets and attend break-out sessions that hone in on specific areas of the industry.
“One of my favorite things is that I get to talk to students about what they are interested in and help to match them with potential careers.” Cone said.
The UCREW program also sponsors an internship drive which has helped some program participants to earn placement at local companies, including CBRE.
