Burr & Forman Adds Atlanta-Based Real Estate Partner

Burr & Forman LLP announces the addition of Atlanta-based partner Erin C. Hewitt to the firm’s Real Estate and Corporate and Tax Groups. Hewitt focuses on capital markets and transactions, including complex secured and unsecured debt financings, corporate mergers and acquisitions, and various sophisticated real estate transactions. She previously served as in-house counsel for a publicly traded real estate investment trust, where she spent six years working on corporate and real estate transactions and financings.

Hewitt counsels developers, lenders, borrowers, landlords and tenants in all aspects of real estate transactions, including easement agreements, restrictive covenants, escrow agreements, lease, site development agreements, purchase and sale agreements, and tax proration agreements. In addition, Hewitt works with owners in the sale, acquisition, financing, and redevelopment of multi-family properties. She has experience handling various corporate mergers and acquisitions in transactions ranging from $7 million to $6.2 billion, as well as both single asset and portfolio sales acquisitions.

Throughout her career, Hewitt has facilitated many different sizes and varieties of commercial real estate and corporate closings. Her finance experience includes unsecured loans, revolving credit facilities, and workouts and loan restructurings.

Outside of Burr & Forman, Hewitt is an active member of the International Community of Shopping Centers (ICSC) and Urban Land Institute (ULI) Center for Leadership

Hewitt earned her undergraduate degree from Emory University, her law degree from Case Western University School of Law and her masters of business administration degree from Case Reserve University.
