260 Pounds Lighter, eVestment Concludes Spring/Summer 2016 Fitness Challenge

6/8/16

Atlanta-based eVestment concluded its Spring/Summer 2016 corporate fitness challenge this week, and employees who participated reported 260 pounds of total weight loss.

These twice-a-year eVestment fitness challenges include individual and group workouts; sessions on healthy eating and fitness habits; and company sponsored prizes at the finale. Teams participate from eVestment offices around the world. A total of 125 eVestment employees participated in this most recent fitness challenge. Throughout the challenge, participants logged workouts and progress toward a variety of fitness goals.

In addition to the 260 pounds of weight loss, other metrics which saw improvement included the average 5k run time dropping from 27.12 minutes to 25.10 minutes; 125% improvement in average number of pullups participants could do in 1 minute, up to 35 compared to the beginning of the challenge; and a 10% improvement in the average bench press weight, up to 208 pounds vs. the beginning of the challenge.

The focus of the eVestment fitness challenges are improvement, with an eye to motivating each employee to become as fit as they can be, so the awards highlight individual and group improvement, not most or best overall fitness or performance.

This year, Lucy Cruz took home the award for most improved female while Ross Davis (pictured) took home the award for most improved male. Both will get to display their prizes, boxing style belts, until the next fitness challenge.

In the team competitions, “Refuse to Lose” was the overall winning team. The team was comprised of Ross Davis, Lucy Cruz, Rhett Slater, AJ Lamar, Barbara Marks, Collin Parkhurst and Jerad Mallard. Coming in second in the group competition was “Corporate Punishment,” comprised of Lauren Daily, Jey Kim, JR Boum, Kerim Pereira, Laura Walker, Nick Day, Wilson Tsui and Ben Roberts.

These semi-annual fitness challenges have become a tradition at eVestment and are frequently cited as one of the activities and benefits employees at eVestment like the most. The fitness challenges and other exceptional employee benefits and programs have been instrumental in eVestment’s many top-workplace and healthiest-employer rankings around the world.

Among recent U.S. rankings, eVestment was named the No. 15 medium-sized workplace in the United States by Fortune Magazine and Great Place to Work, the No. 2 mid-sized employer in metro Atlanta by the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, the 9th healthiest mid-sized employer in Atlanta by the Atlanta Business Chronicle. And in the United Kingdom, eVestment recently secured a Silver Accreditation from the UK-based Investors in People organization.
