Pathbuilders Partners with Atlanta Business Chronicle on 2016 Women's Leadership Forum

6/6/16

Pathbuilders, an Atlanta-based professional mentoring and leadership development company, is pleased to present this year’s Women’s Leadership Forum in partnership with the Atlanta Business Chronicle and The Robinson College of Business at Georgia State University. The event will be held on Friday, June 24th from 7:30 a.m. – 1:30 p.m. at Cobb Galleria Centre.

For more than 20 years, Pathbuilders has been focused on mentoring in the Atlanta business community, particularly high-performing women identified by their organizations as positively transforming and leading in significant and measurable ways. Perfectly aligned with that mission, the Women’s Leadership Forum is a tribute to the growth of women’s leadership in a setting that is inspirational and focused on empowering females in future and existing workplace roles.

Helene Lollis, president and CEO of Pathbuilders will lead an interactive workshop titled, Surge: Building Your Personal Development Plan.” This session will address two types of career transitions as well as offer suggestions for preparing for each type of transition. Here is the workshop description:

Great careers rarely “just happen.” They are typically comprised of a series of transitions, some unplanned, and some orchestrated—and, to have great and fulfilling careers, we have to take charge and make career transitions happen. So, what are you doing every day to prepare for the luck in your future? In today’s flat and heavily-matrixed organizations, career transitions can and will take on different forms—promotions, lateral moves, special assignments, etc.—and, the most valuable employees are those who identify and pursue ways that they can contribute at the highest levels possible. These are true win-wins—the organization and you both benefit from your conscious planning and diligent work to navigate career transitions.

As with any move, you will need a direction, preparation, and a plan. And, not unlike moving from one home to another, successful career transitions will require intentional decision making, strategy, and effort.  You will have to decide which skill sets and mindsets you should pack up and take with you, which ones to leave behind, and the best approach for unpacking once you arrive. Similarly, you will need to consider the cultural norms of the organization as a whole as well as the department where you are headed when assessing the best timing, route, and vehicle for your move.

More than 700 attendees are expected at this year’s Women’s Leadership Forum with many of them sharing their experiences, strategies and proven methods for success. Starting with breakfast and ending with a seated lunch, the event presents five hours of motivating speakers and stimulating breakout sessions providing an opportunity to listen, discuss, exchange ideas, and challenge attendees to think in innovative ways.

Keynote speakers include Jane Smith, vice president of college relations for Spelman College, and Susan Packard, co-founder of HGTV and author of “New Rules of the Game: 10 Strategies for Women in the Workplace.” Panelists and moderators include:

  • Laura Grams, AVP, Learning and Organizational Development, Hospital Corporation of America
  • Marie Gooding, First Vice President and Chief Operating Officer, The Federal Reserve Bank of Atlanta
