State Department Official to Discuss Trans-Pacific Partnership at June 3 Breakfast

6/1/16

Ambassador Charles Rivkin, Assistant Secretary of State for Economic and Business Affairs, will speak on Friday morning June 3 about how the Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP) is creating economic opportunities for U.S. businesses at a breakfast hosted by the World Affairs Council of Atlanta. The event will be held at the City Club of Buckhead and begins at 8:30 a.m.

Trade and free trade agreements have become targets for both parties in the presidential campaign. The Obama Administration is pushing for Congressional passage of the TPP agreement by this Congress, arguing that it opens the markets of the TPP countries – Canada, Mexico, Japan, Vietnam, Peru, Chile, Australia, New Zealand, Brunei and Singapore – to U.S. exports and establishes a 21st century rules-based trade regime that other trade agreements will copy.

TheWorld Affairs Council of Atlanta is a nonpartisan organization affiliated with the J. Mack Robinson College of Business, Georgia State University and the World Affairs Councils of America.
